An exciting new youth chorus for 10th-12th grade singers along the coast of Mississippi!


What is the Gulf Coast Youth Chorale?

  • A new youth chorus for students entering grades 10 through 12 open to all public, private, and homeschool students located along the coast
  • Rehearsals will take place every Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30PM at the USM Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach, MS at Fleming Auditorium
  • Students will have the opportunity to sing challenging choral literature and connect with other musicians along the gulf coast
  • Performances will take place at numerous beautiful acoustical spaces including performing arts centers, cathedrals and churches in Biloxi, Long Beach, and more
  • Students will perform concerts in collaboration with the Gulf Coast Civic Chorale

Meet the Director: Will Griswold

Will GriswoldMr. Will Griswold is a second year DMA Choral Conducting student at USM. Recently, Will finished his sixth year as the Director of Choral Activities at Argyle High School in Argyle, TX. Mr. Griswold helped the AHS Choir program grow from 5 students to 100 students and from one performing ensemble to six performing ensembles. During that time, he helped 65 students make the All-Region Choir, 15 students make the Texas All-State Small School Choir, and led his students to consistent Superior ratings at UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Assessments. During his tenure, the Concert Choir has performed at the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry, the University of Texas Arlington, the Texas State Capitol, and at the prestigious Texas Music Educators Association conference. Mr. Griswold is an active presenter at professional conferences and has made recent appearances at TCDA, TMEA, and NACC. 

Mr. Griswold has also been an active member in the a cappella community, founding and directing “Remedy” a contemporary vocal group performing since the Fall of 2017. Under his direction, Remedy recorded four full-length EPs, performed at the National A Cappella Conference, placed top three in numerous a cappella competitions, and most recently finished 3rd at the finals for the International Championship for High School A Cappella. Mr. Griswold’s group received their second nomination for the Contemporary A Cappella Recording awards, and were selected for their fourth national compilation album through BOHSA and Voices Only Productions. 

Mr. Griswold received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at Belmont University and a Master's Degree in Choral Music Education at the University of North Texas. While at Southern Mississippi Mr. Griswold has conducted University Singers, Tenebrae, Gulf Coast Civic Chorale, and Chamber Singers. ​His current professional affiliations include MSACDA, ACDA, and the AEA.”
