Applications for Faculty Awards due in November

Applications for faculty awards at The University of Southern Mississippi are due to the Office of the Provost during the month of November, beginning Nov. 3. The awards include the Aubrey Keith Lucas and Ella Ginn Lucas Endowment for Faculty Excellence; Excellence in University Service; Excellence in University Teaching; and Grand Marshal-Distinguished Professor.  

Details about each award, including deadline for application, are as follows:

*Aubrey Keith Lucas and Ella Ginn Lucas Endowment for Faculty Excellence Awards - Dr. and Mrs. Aubrey Lucas provide an endowment to support and reward faculty excellence in instruction and research.  Requests for support may range from $25 to $5000. The funds cannot be used as a salary supplement. As a reminder, recipients from the previous academic year are not eligible. Funds will be awarded in May 2015 and must be used by April 2016. Recipients are allowed to teach full-time during the award period.  Proposals and applications are due by Monday, Nov. 3.  For more information about the award visit: http://www.usm.edu/provost/awards-endowments

*Excellence in University Service Award – Each year the University recognizes a faculty member who has excelled in (non-administrative) service to the university community.  Full-time faculty members with a minimum of three years experience at USM are eligible. Individuals who receive this award are not eligible for five years, and individuals who have received two awards are ineligible. Applications are due by Monday, Nov. 10. *Excellence in University Teaching Award – Each year the University recognizes a faculty member with a record of exceptional teaching. Full-time faculty members with a minimum of three years experience at USM are eligible. Individuals who receive this award are not eligible for five years, and individuals who have received two awards are ineligible. Applications are due by Monday, Nov. 10. *Grand Marshal-Distinguished Professor Award – The University recognizes a senior faculty member who has excelled in teaching, research and service. The award recipient will be recognized at commencement and will serve as Grand Marshal - Distinguished Professor at all university commencement ceremonies for one calendar year (May and December in Hattiesburg and May on the Gulf Coast).  Applications are due by Monday, Nov. 17.  For more information visit: http://www.usm.edu/provost/awards-endowments
