The College of Business at The University of Southern Mississippi is sponsoring a leadership training series led by corporate trainers from poultry giant Sanderson Farms on Friday, Sept. 23 at Scianna Hall on the Hattiesburg campus. The event is set for 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The same corporate trainers used by Sanderson Farms to provide training to the company's employees will be on hand to offer guidance to the Southern Miss College of Business family. The training will primarily cover effective communication skills and building trust with co-workers.

“We believe that the immersion of our students, faculty, and staff in corporate training is a key aspect of the culture and learning environment we have in the College of Business,” said Dr. Bret Becton, Associate Dean and Associate Professor in the Southern Miss College of Business. “For our students to be given the opportunity to develop the skills employers seek prior to graduation is invaluable.”

Becton added: “For our faculty and staff to experience this training alongside the students and corporate trainers allows them to incorporate some of these skills and competencies into their courses and our curriculum to ensure further development and reinforcement.”
