College of Business students at The University of Southern Mississippi will have an opportunity to hear from one of the country's top executives when R. Chad Gober, vice president of finance for the McKesson Corporation, visits the Hattiesburg campus on Thursday, Nov. 9. The appearance, set for 5:30 p.m. at Scianna Hall, is sponsored by the Financial Management Association at USM.

Gober has worked with McKesson since 2011, serving as a financial analyst, director of finance, vice president of finance, and vice president of finance in the United Kingdom. Prior to McKesson, he worked as a financial analyst and manager of finance for FedEx Express and for Pfizer.

Gober has an MBA from Indiana University - Kelley School of Business (2010) and a BBA/BA degree in international finance/foreign language from Mississippi State University (2002).

McKesson delivers pharmaceutical and medical products and business services to retail pharmacies and institutional providers like hospitals and health systems throughout North America and internationally. About 30 percent of all pharmaceuticals used each day in North America are delivered by McKesson. Founded in 1833 with headquarters in San Francisco, McKesson is ranked 5th as a Fortune 500 company and employs nearly 70,000 people.

Dr. Wayne Kelly, chair of the Department of Finance, Real Estate, and Business Law at USM, taught Gober as an undergraduate at Mississippi State.

β€œIt is exciting to have executives from firms such as McKesson visit Southern Miss, work with our students, and provide opportunities to them with these international companies,” said Dr. Faye Gilbert, dean of the USM College of Business. β€œI am grateful for Dr. Kelly's expertise and for the work of our students in the Financial Management Association for hosting this visit.”
