Sarah Jane Young and Galen PeiskeeThe University of Southern Mississippi (USM) School of Music presents the last Guest Artist Series of the year, featuring the Young-Peiskee Duo on Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Marsh Auditorium on the Hattiesburg campus. This event is free and is open to the public.

The Young-Peiskee Duo, comprised of Sarah Jane Young (flute) and Galen Peiskee (piano), has performed both internationally and throughout the United States. Founded in 2014, this flute and piano ensemble was featured in the EMMA Concert Guild Classical Music Series.

“They explore repertoire from all over the world. The duo has performed standards, lesser-known works, and newly commissioned music,” said Dr. Danilo Mezzadri. “Sarah Jane is an outstanding flutist. We teach together at Blue Lake Fina Arts Camp and we really enjoy her musicality.”

The Young-Peiskee Duo will perform an all-female composers program featuring some well know composers such as Cecile Chaminade’s “Concertino” and Mel Bonis’ “Sonata”. They are also presenting some hidden gems in the flute and piano repertoire as well as new works written and dedicated to this stellar duo.

In addition to performing, they have been guest artists at higher educational institutions such as the Conservatory of Music in Bolivia and Florida State University. As educators, they have lead masterclasses and pedagogical lectures as well as chamber music coachings.
