Unannounced LSO
ORSD makes every effort to identify Limited Submission Opportunities (LSOs) and notify potential Principal Investigators (PIs) as early as possible. When appropriate, ORSD may first request a Notice of Intent (NOI) to evaluate interest and determine whether an internal competition will be launched.
If a PI becomes aware of an unannounced LSO, they are required to inform ORSD before submitting any application to the sponsor. Notifications should be submitted through the RDTE listserv at least 60 days prior to the sponsor’s deadline, when feasible. This allows ORSD sufficient time to assess interest, initiate an NOI or internal competition, and conduct a fair and thorough review process.
When deadlines are imminent — either because the sponsor’s submission date is near or because the opportunity is reported fewer than 60 days before the deadline — ORSD will review Notices of Intent or pre‑proposals in consultation with the Associate Deans for Research and the Vice President for Research and make final selections accordingly.
Found a limited submission opportunity we haven’t announced? Notify ORSD so it can be reviewed promptly and appropriate next steps determined.
