School of Social Work
There are 8 undergraduate and 13 graduate Social Work-specific scholarships that students may apply for through the USM Foundation. Each year, the School of Social Work honors new scholarship recipients at our year-end banquet.
Assistantships provide limited financial support during the academic year (September – May) to students in return for 20 hours of work per week.
Award decisions are made on the basis of financial need AND the applicant’s ability to contribute to the work needs of the School of Social Work.
An application for assistantship cannot be considered unless the applicant has been accepted for admission. Announcements of awards are made after May 15.
The Office of Financial Aid provides an overview of state and federal resources that you can apply for to help with the cost of attendance.
The Office of Undergraduate Scholarships has information about freshman and transfer scholarships.
