Students can SCHEDULE EXAMS ONLINE. You can login using your USM credentials and navigate to "Alternative Testing" on the left-side menu to complete the Alternative Testing Request Form.  If you need assistance scheduling an exam, please contact Student Accessibility Services (SAS) directly at 601.266.5024 or sas@usm.edu.

Exams scheduled with SAS are to be proctored at the SAS Offices in Bond Hall room 114. Our offices are open Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, excluding university holidays. Exams must be scheduled no less than two (2) business days in advance.

Exams during the semester may be scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. No exams may be scheduled later than 3:00 pm to ensure that students get the full use of their testing accommodations. Exams must be turned in at 5:00 pm. Final Exams may be taken from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Students can SCHEDULE EXAMS ONLINE through the Gulf Park Library Proctoring Services. Exams are given through appointment only.

Exams scheduled through online are to be proctored at the Gulf Coast Testing Center Room in room 210 of the Gulf Coast Library. The Gulf Park Library Testing Services is open by appointment.

Normally, students pay for exam proctoring at the Gulf Park Library Testing Services; SAS students are not billed for exam proctoring as long as the exam is for a USM academic course they are registered for.

SAS students must be fully registered with Alternative Testing Accommodations before exams can be scheduled through the Gulf Park Library Testing Services for free. If a student schedules an exam less than four (4) business days in advance, then a late fee of $30 is billed to them from the Gulf Park Library Testing Center. For questions, please call 228.214.3459 or email mernagh.howze@usm.edu.

Utilizing the Testing Center

SAS Testing Center Expectations:

Please Note: ALL exams must be scheduled with SAS at least 48 business hours prior to the exam date. SAS can not properly work with instructors to administer exams without proper notice. Exams scheduled after this deadline may not be administered at the discretion of the SAS Director.

  • SAS offers a quiet, distraction-free testing environment for eligible students. Adherence to specific rules is crucial to maintain a controlled environment and ensure assessment integrity.
  • Operating hours are M-F 8:00 -5:00, with no tests starting before 8:30 or after 3:00.
  • Arriving late to exam will result in deducted testing time and possible refusal to administer an exam without faculty approval.
  • The Testing Center must be controlled and disruption-free. Enter and exit quietly.
  • One restroom break is allowed at 50 or 75 minutes, exceptions documented.
  • Store belongings (including but not limited to backpacks, purses, and cell phones) in designated area. Phones must be off or silent in the bag, no exceptions. Admissible belongings are determined by SAS personnel per faculty requirements.
  • No unauthorized electronic devices allowed during testing. Report any found devices to faculty.
  • Only faculty-authorized items can be used during testing. Unauthorized devices result in test termination and faculty notification.
  • Provide scantron sheets for courses requiring them. Bring necessary supplies for testing.
  • No food or drink unless part of an approved accommodation. No open containers allowed.
  • Personal care attendants may assist with personal needs but not academically during testing.
  • Earbuds are available. Individual testing rooms are not guaranteed.
  • Academic misconduct is reported per university policy. This includes but is not limited to failure to follow direction, disruptive behavior, offensive/obscene language, failure to observe testing center rules, and/or a lack of general professional conduct with staff and other students.
  • Testing violations may lead to conduct reports or academic integrity cases at the discretion of the SAS Director.
