🌍 Get Ready for Earth Week 2025! 🌿
Join the Southern Miss Office of Sustainability as we celebrate Earth Week from April 21–25, 2025! Enjoy a week packed with fun, educational events designed to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote sustainable living.

Campus and community organizations will come together to share innovative ideas, spark important conversations, and inspire positive change. All events are open to the USM and Hattiesburg communities — and yes, there will be prizes! Participate in select events and games for a chance to win goodies from Moore’s Bike Shop, Papa John’s Pizza, and T-Bones!

🌟 Earth Week 2025 Schedule of Events:

🟢 Monday, April 21 – Caught Green-Handed
Start the week strong! If you're spotted recycling or practicing other sustainable behaviors, you could be "caught green-handed" and rewarded with a swag bag and a coupon of your choice from T-Bones, Papa John’s, or Moore’s Bike Shop.

 
🌎 Tuesday, April 22 – Earth Day Campus Cleanups
Give back to the planet and your community!
• SGA Campus Cleanup: Join the Southern Miss Student Government Association as we pick up litter around campus.

• Innova Prep School Cleanup: Students and volunteers from Innova Preparatory School are also teaming up for a separate cleanup effort.

🧤 Grabbers, gloves, and bags will be provided at both events — let’s work together to beautify our campus and kick off Earth Week the right way!

 
🌿 Wednesday, April 23 – Earth Fair (10 AM – 1 PM, Shoemaker Square)
Discover sustainable practices, learn from local and campus organizations, and connect with people who care about our environment. Topics include recycling, energy conservation, biodiversity, and more. Don’t miss this vibrant celebration of all things green!

🔬 Wednesday, April 23 – Glass Half Full Presentation (2:00 – 3:30 PM, Walker Science Room 137)
Meet New Orleans co-founder from the company 'Glass Half Full' as he educates us on the benefits of recycling glass. Lunch provided while it lasts.

🎉 Wednesday, April 23 – Glass Half Full Kickoff Party (6 PM – 8 PM, So Pro Company Downtown)

♻️ Thursday, April 24 – USM Shred Event (10 AM – 2 PM, Physical Plant)
Safely dispose of old electronics and sensitive documents at our free shredding and recycling event. Open to the USM and Hattiesburg communities. First-come, first-served until the truck is full — don’t miss it!

 
🧘‍♀️ Friday, April 25 – Outdoor Yoga & Lunch (12 PM – 1 PM, Spirit Park)
Wrap up Earth Week with a refreshing outdoor yoga session in Spirit Park! Sponsored by the Office of Sustainability and Recreational Sports, this class offers a chance to reconnect with nature and reflect on the impact we have on our world. Lunch will be provided while supplies last.
