Office of Sustainability

The Office of Sustainability facilitates the implementation of the Southern Miss Climate Action Plan by providing services to the campus community that ensures fulfillment of the institution's participation in the American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC).

While working to educate the Southern Miss campus on how to live a more sustainable and low-impact lifestyle, the department also strives to reduce the university's carbon footprint through university-wide recycling efforts, programs, and initiatives.

The Southern Mississippi recycling program is universal, comprehensive, single-stream, and desk-side. These items collected from residence halls and academic facilites, as well as the paper, plastic, aluminum cans and cardboard collected in the West Fourth Street recycling bins all help reduce the university's environmental impact.
