Career Competencies - Employers

Description: This workshop was originated to inform and educate our employers on 8 competencies that will help students be more career ready when transitioning into the workforce. This will also help employers improve their work environment and retain valuable employees. The 8 competencies include the following:
Critical Thinking/Problem Solving
Oral and Written Communication Skills
Professionalism/Work Ethic
Information Technology Application
Global/Intercultural Perspective
Career Management
Leadership
Teamwork/Collaboration



Career Competencies - Students

Description: Students should learn about career competencies and how they apply to career readiness. Employers should learn about career competencies in order to help develop students as they grow. The Career Competencies Workshop will be an informational session/workshop that will help students and employers learn, know, and understand the career competencies need to advance and be proficient in the workforce. The event is interactive and could be presented in-person or virtually. The career competencies are developed by NACE.

Getting Connected

Mar 25, 2021 12:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada)

Description: Presentation to give Juniors tips on how to begin their job search and prepare for post graduation. Students should leave the presentation able to create actionable steps regarding their job search.

Job Shadowing 

April 1, 2021 – April 30, 2021
Description: Some students are not able to get internships or part-time jobs. Junior are interested in networking and getting internships for their desired career, BUT not all students are able to be accepted for an internship. Although shadowing jobs is not really desired, it is a way to be in the work environment, learn from managers, and network. This event was established to give our students the opportunity to get a feel of the workforce. This event can be for a day(s) or even weeks, depending on how much do you work to help and build relationships with our students!

Employer Panel
April 15, 2021 3 PM - 4:30 PM
This event strives to connect employers with students and allow the students to ask employers questions to better understand how to prepare for interviews, how to enter the workforce, or information about the company in general. We hope that the employers and students are very diversified. This will result in a variety of answers and questions. The students can get a closer look at different employers and what they require, and the employers will be able to connect with students and give insightful feedback about their careers.
