Students with certain ACT/SAT subset scores or no ACT/SAT subset scores and do not have the appropriate corresponding courses will be required to enroll and successfully complete developmental education curriculum.
This policy is required for the effective communication of university policy regarding course placement for freshmen and transfer students.

The following statements in regard to developmental education curriculum for university system institutions are based on existing IHL Board policies set forth in the Board’s policies and bylaws; they are set forth to assist the institutions in proper implementation of Board policy and to assure compliance with the requirements set forth by the Board.
* The one-hour credit new students earn for orientation (GS 100) is the exception.
All new entering students, regardless of admit type, who do not submit ACT or SAT scores and have not successfully completed with a “D” or higher in English Composition I (ENG 101) will be required to take and successfully complete Expanded English 100E and make a “D” or higher before enrolling in English Composition (ENG 101) during their first semester of enrollment.
All new entering students, regardless of admit type, who do not submit ACT or SAT scores and have not successfully completed Intermediate Algebra with a “C” or higher or College Algebra with a “D” or better, take and successfully complete intermediate mathematics (MAT 99) and make a "C" or higher before enrolling in quantitative reasoning (MAT 100) or college algebra (MAT 101) during their first semester of enrollment.
Director of Admissions for Operations is responsible for the review of this policy every four years (or whenever circumstances require immediate review).
