Microsoft 365 is available at Southern Miss for all active students, faculty, and staff. Microsoft 365 is a suite of office productivity applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook along with cloud services, such as OneDrive and Teams.

Microsoft Office Applications

Microsoft Office Applications Available

Microsoft 365 provides access to the Microsoft Office Suite of applications, including Outlook (email), Word (word processing), Excel (spreadsheets), PowerPoint (presentations), OneNote (Digital notebook), Publisher (publication design), and Access (basic database software). In addition to having access to web versions, active students, faculty, and staff will be able to download Microsoft Office 365 applications on up to 5 devices (PC, Mac) and up to 5 mobile devices (Android or iOS).

Microsoft Exchange EmailMicrosoft Exchange Email

Campus email services run on Microsoft Exchange and includes a 50GB mailbox with unified messaging, archiving, and retention policies with legal hold. Access to email can be setup within Microsoft Outlook or accessed through a web browser using Microsoft Outlook Web App (OWA).

Microsoft OneDriveMicrosoft OneDrive

Microsoft OneDrive provides cloud storage for your work files and can be accessed across devices and through a web browser. With the OneDrive desktop client for Windows, you can also backup your desktop, documents, and pictures folders to the cloud. Each user is given 1 TB of cloud storage for free!

Microsoft TeamsMicrosoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a "virtual office" and provides a complete communication collaboration system for instant messaging, conference calls, video meetings, desktop screen sharing, and file collaboration available to all active students, faculty, and staff.

Microsoft Extended Applications

Microsoft Extended Applications

Microsoft 365 offers several other extended applications, such as Visio Web, Power Automate, Stream, Bookings, Viva, etc. Microsoft continually adds more applications to the campus license agreement.

Users are encouraged to learn about these extended applications through either Microsoft Learn or Microsoft 365 Training.

Use of these extended applications and features for university official business should be considered at your own risk.

iTech does not offer in-depth expertise in all applications that Microsoft provides but can assist by connecting customers with Microsoft for troubleshooting should the need arise.

Users who setup any special workflows or applications in the development platforms should take care to ensure these applications remain accessible should they leave the University.
