BASIC ACADEMY CERTIFICATION (480 Hour Residential Program)
2021 Basic Academy Class Dates
Class 2021-01: Sunday, January 10, 2021 - Thursday, March 25, 2021
Class 2021-02: Sunday, April 11, 2021 - Thursday, June 24, 2021
PT Test Dates: March 8, March 15, and March 22**, 2021
Class 2021-03: Sunday, July 11, 2021 - Thursday, September 23, 2021
PT Test Dates: June 7, June 14, and June 21**, 2021
Class 2021-04: Sunday, October 3, 2021 - Thursday, December 16, 2021
PT Test Dates: September 7, September 13, and September 20**, 2021
Inprocessing for the Pre PT Test will begin at 0800.
Applicants for the SRPSI Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy must turn in their completed applications, which includes their physical with physician's original signature, before the PT test can be conducted. Once the application has been completed, please send the original to the SRPSI at: Building 1481, 14th Street Camp Shelby, MS 39407-5500
Applicant may bring the application with completed physical to the scheduled PT test. Please contact a staff member prior to a scheduled PT test date to be added to the roster.
**CPR - denotes the date SRPSI will offer a CPR/1st Aid course for cadets needing certification after the completion of the Pre PT Test. The CPR/1st Aid course will begin at 1000. SRPSI will offer one course per scheduled class. MBLEOST requires everyone attending an academy to be CPR/First Aid Certified prior to starting academy training. For personnel enrolled in an upcoming SRPSI academy class, the cost will be $25 per student.
TUITION - $3600
Departments must provide duty handgun & shotgun per cadet for firearms training and patrol vehicle for Emergency Vehicle Operations. If Department has more than one cadet in a class, every 2 cadets may share 1 patrol car. No more than 2 cadets can share a vehicle. If department cannot provide a vehicle, contact SRPSI to coordinate use of a SRPSI patrol vehicle.
REQUIRED ITEMS & EQUIPMENT
- Minimum of one set of agency issued uniform (duty uniform)
- Raincoat
- Protective vest (required daily wear)
- Reflective vest
- Minimum of three NAVY BLUE sweat pants (No markings) NOT JOGGERS. CLASS 02 only needs 1 pair
- Minimum of three NAVY BLUE sweat shirts (Last name on back with WHITE 2" capital letters in ARIAL font) CLASS 02 only needs 1
- Minimum of four pairs of NAVY BLUE gym shorts (No markings)
- Minimum of eight GOLD Gildan brand crew-neck t-shirts (Last name on back with NAVY BLUE 2” capital letters in ARIAL font) (No pockets)
- Minimum of three NAVY BLUE tactical or BDU pants. Must have cargo pockets
- Full duty belt with holster, magazine pouch, handcuffs, handcuff case, handcuff key, duty weapon and 3 high capacity magazines.
- Uniform Jacket
- Flashlight (may be issued or purchased) Handheld size
- BLACK cold weather skull cap with no markings (Dept. patch is okay) not required for Class 03
- Cold weather gloves - BLACK only - not required for Class 03
- Minimum of five pairs of WHITE athletic crew length socks (no markings)
- Towels and wash cloths for five days, WHITE only
- Personal hygiene kit (i.e. soap, shampoo, razor, deodorant and etc.)
- Boot polish kit (i.e. polish, brush, and rags)
- Sufficient underwear (two changes a day may be required due to physical activities)
- Uniform Duty Boots - BLACK only
- Running shoes (high quality)
- Shower shoes
- Mouthpiece for Defensive Tactics
- Protective Groin Cup with carrier (males only)
- Laundry bag, mesh only
- Battery powered or battery back-up alarm clock (wind up clock ok too)
- 32 oz water bottle (BLUE only) with screw top lid
- 10 plastic WHITE hangers
- 4 belt keepers
- Underbelt
- Pillow is provided but may bring your own (WHITE/standard size only)
- Pocket Dictionary
- 5 subject spiral notebook with pocket dividers

The Mississippi Board of Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training (MS-BLEOST) requires the following documents before issuing certification. If your agency has not already submitted this documentation, it is up to you to bring it with you on the start date of the academy.
Original application.
High School Diploma, GED or high school transcript.
N.C.I.C. III Background Printout or copy of printout. (Self Sponsor - need release
form)
Copy of current driver's license or Printout. (Must be valid through the graduation
date of the class)

REFRESHER TRAINING (200 Hour Non-Residential Program)
Classes are held in conjunction with the basic academy classes and are spread out over the basic academy 11-week period.
Students enrolled in the Refresher Class only attend training on days where specific curricula are covered as required by BLEOST.
Refresher applicants must complete the MS BLEOST application and successfully complete 50% on the physical fitness entry test,
The first day of Refresher Training is generally on Tuesday following the start date of the basic class.
Tuition: $1500
SKILLS UPDATE
Classes are held in conjunction with the basic academy classes and are spread out over the basic academy 11-week period.
Students enrolled for a Skills Update will only attend training on days where specific curricula are covered as required by BLEOST.
