Southern Experience Choral Camp

The Southern Experience Camp (SoEx) at Southern Miss is a non-residential day camp for students departing grade 5 through grade 9, held on June 13-17, 2022. Students have the opportunity to work with a world-class clinician, preparing a full concert for parents and the community on the final day of Camp. Additionally, students will participate in a variety of fun games and activities. Lunch is provided daily.

Tammy Carney

Meet Tammy Carney

Tammy Carney received her Bachelor of Music Education in 1988 from the University of Mississippi and is currently working on her Master of Music Education at the University of Southern Mississippi. She is the Director of Choral Music at Petal Middle School where she conducts Chanticleer Women’s choir, Chevalier Men’s Choir, and the Spark Show Choir. Over the past 24 years, her choirs and ensembles have been recognized with numerous awards and have performed at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Grand Ole Opry. At Clinton Junior High in Clinton, MS, Tammy was selected as Teacher of the Year 2o12. In 2016, she was honored with the ACDA Ernestine Ferrell Award for Choral Excellence and the Mississippi Music Educator of the Year Award. Petal Middle School selected Mrs. Carney as 2017 Teacher of the Year. An active church musician and clinician conducting honor choirs in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi, Tammy has three sons, Durham, Denton, and Tanner.
