Dual Enrollment Partnerships with High Schools

Page Content

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) governs the University’s dual enrollment partnerships with individual high schools.  The University follows set policies and procedures when establishing a dual enrollment partnership with a high school, involving the following University units: Undergraduate Admissions, Office of the Provost (Institutional Effectiveness), the appropriate Academic School, Registrar, Business Services, and Undergraduate Scholarships.

The University adheres to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) definition of “dual enrollment” (courses taught to high school students for which the students receive both high school credit and college credit, regardless of location or mode of delivery).

How long does it take to establish a dual enrollment partnership with the University?

Interested parties should begin the process of creating a dual enrollment partnership as soon as possible. Generally, it takes 6-9 months to successfully establish a dual enrollment MOU, so starting the process well in advance of the desired academic year is required. The University recommends initiating the process of creating a dual enrollment partnership no later than the fall prior to offering the class at the high school, with the dual enrollment MOU being finalized in March.

Who should I contact to request a dual enrollment MOU with a high school?

High school representatives and/or University faculty members should contact DJ Preiss (Donald.PreissFREEMississippi) for further assistance.
