Joseph Cheatle

I am an Assistant Professor of English and Director of the University Writing Center. My most recent scholarship focuses on how writing centers connect theory to practice and on creating collaborative approaches to improving services. My scholarship is published in the Writing Center Journal, The Journal of Writing Analytics, Praxis: A Writing Center Journal, and in Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy. When not working, I can be found cycling, running, cooking, or learning to play the violin.

I am full-time professional staff and am the Assistant Director of the University Writing Center. My professional writing background includes journalism and technical writing. I have been with the Writing Center 12 years. When not working, I enjoy cooking, spending time with my family, and gaming.

I hope to see you through editorial processes in outlining among other aspects of your creative/ technical writing.

Hello! My name is Lauryn, and I’m a senior English major. My studies have exposed me to all types of writing, but I specialize in research and analysis essays. I am familiar with technical writing as well. Come see us soon; I’d love to work with you at any stage of your writing process! 

Eden Duley

Eden Duley

I’m a senior English major from New Albany, Mississippi, and I work as an undergraduate peer tutor here at the USM Writing Center. Though I’m happy to work with any student on any project, I specialize in personal works and creative essays. I’ll be glad to work with you at any point of the writing process during our tutoring sessions, whether that be interpreting your assignment, brainstorming topics, discussing personal connections to your work, finding textual evidence, writing content, revising your work, and anything in-between!

My name is Evan Fisher, and I am a senior Business Entrepreneurship major with a minor in English. My specialties include business writing assignments, helping with outlines, and assisting in finalizing assignments. My favorite stage of the writing process to collaborate on is brainstorming. Hi! My name is Caleigh Jernigan and I’m an Elementary Education major with an endorsement in English. My favorite part of the writing process is the brainstorming and outlining portion. I also love helping people learn different methods for revising their own essays.

Hi, I am Nathan.  I am a second-year Graduate student pursuing a Master’s in English. I would love to explore your writing with you every step of the way, from the brainstorming stage to looking at your finished draft. I specialize in creative writing, research papers, and seminar papers, but I am always open to new possibilities! In my spare time I love reading, writing, watching movies, and spending time with my dog, Daphne.

Beth Slaby has worked as a staff tutor for many years. She has a background in Theater and loves all the arts. As a native of northern Wisconsin, she also loves all outdoor activities. 

Roman Stokes

Roman Stokes

Roman Stokes is a first-year graduate student in English Literature where he studies medieval literature, language, and game theory. He has extensive experience working on outlines, drafting thesis statements, research, collaborating with ESL learners, and academic writing in the humanities and social sciences.

Hi! My name is Gaven Wallace and I’m a graduate student of English with an emphasis in fiction writing. I love reading and writing creatively, so I would love to workshop your creative writing with you. I have also spent a lot of time engaging with research, so I am very comfortable with working on research papers as well.
