USM Army ROTC cadets participate in a rigorous academic program that includes military science and leadership courses focused on teaching you valuable leadership skills, military training, and discipline.

As a Cadet you will have the opportunity to participate in internships, labs and in hands-on training at Army bases all over the world. You can have the best of two worlds, civilian and military, and get a college experience unlike any other! If you're interested in attending college while learning what it takes to become an Army Officer, ROTC at Southern Miss may be right for you.

  • High school students who are applying for admission to Southern Miss may enroll in MS 101 for the Fall Semester and try out Army ROTC with no commitment!
  • You also will want to prepare to meet the physical fitness standards. Practice 1 minute of Pushups, Sit-ups, and a one mile run.

Four-Year Scholarship

The Four-Year High School Scholarship is for high school students planning on attending a four-year college program. You can also recieve a 3-year Advanced Designee scholarship, which means that your scholarship money wouldn't kick in until your sophomore year. Army ROTC scholarships cover full tuition and fees or room/board.

March2Success program

Students seeking an opportunity to improve their standardized test scores can take advantage of the March2Success program.
