To assist in the national effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, The University of Southern Mississippi is cancelling all events where fifty or more people are expected.
University Forum events featuring Marjorie Spruill on March 24 and Jodi Kantor on April 7 have been cancelled.
We share your disappointment and hope that we may be able to host these remarkable women at a future date.
Since 1974, the University Forum has been the premier speaker series at the University of Southern Mississippi. Sponsored by the Southern Miss Honors College with support from the Office of the President, University Forum has brought some of the most respected and innovative cultural, scientific, and artistic voices in the world to Southern Miss. Past speakers have included Stephen J. Gould, Gloria Steinem, Bryan Stevenson, Russell Means, Lilly Ledbetter, Susan Sontag, G. Gordon Liddy, Kurt Vonnegut, Barbara Ehrenreich, E.O. Wilson, Art Spiegelman, Antonin Scalia, Carl Bernstein, and Sebastian Junger.
Any student enrolled at The University of Southern Mississippi can register for HON 321: Honors Forum, a class that enables students to earn one hour of credit for attending University Forum events and electives selected from a broad slate of scholarly and cultural events on campus and in the community. Students studying at the Chateau Program in France may earn Honors Forum credit by taking HON 321CA.
