ACES

Academic Connections to Enhance Success (ACES) is a unique program for incoming first-year students to participate in a small community of peers living and learning together. Students selected for the program live in the same residence hall, take courses together, and participate in additional programs and mentoring. ACES gives students a small, supportive community within the larger University.

JUMP into college!

The JUMP Scholars Program is a summer program for incoming freshmen who want to get a “jump” start on their classes and engage in the Southern Miss student experience early. Students who are chosen to participate will take summer courses together before starting Southern Miss in the fall. The JUMP Scholars Program also includes interactive learning opportunities, social events and other exciting opportunities not offered to other incoming freshmen. Learn more.

Everyone needs a little help sometimes, particularly new students away from home for the first time. If you're sick, or feeling overwhelmed, if you're having trouble with a professor or you've been the victim of sexual harassment or assault, or if you just need someone to talk to, Southern Miss cares about your success, and we have people all over campus who can help. Visit Student Success to see the services we offer.
