Office of the Provost
The Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs serves as chief academic officer for The University of Southern Mississippi, leading strategic planning and implementation of key initiatives throughout academic affairs. The Office of the Provost provides leadership to all campuses and academic areas to support excellence in faculty research and creative endeavors, enhance student achievement, and foster strong relationships with community partners. Through leadership of the academic affairs division of the University, the Provost supports the vision of the University President for The University of Southern Mississippi to be an innovative and dynamic model for public higher education.
New Grants AnnouncedAcademic Program-Level Integration of Coursera Content The purpose of this initiative is to encourage academic programs to take a coordinated approach to using Coursera resources to enhance academic programs, strengthen career readiness, and provide students with opportunities to develop skills and earn industry-recognized credentials that complement their Southern Miss degree. Application Submission Deadline: October 30, 2026 The Office of the Provost offers AI Integration Grants to support faculty in redesigning courses or academic programs to incorporate AI in ways that build discipline-specific skills and prepare students for an AI-informed workforce.
