- If you are looking for volunteers, please use the below links to create a profile and post OPPORTUNITIES on Get Connected, USM and other local hubs' online platform for service. You can make opportunities visible only to certain groups or to the public. Volunteers can use the web or use the Cause Connect app to “search” for your opportunity, "sign up", then “check in/out” to earn and report hours.
Any opportunities posted on the below two sites will automatically show up on USM’s site too:

- If you are a USM organization or otherwise unable to create a profile on the above volunteer hubs, complete this form for us to post a volunteer opportunity for you: https://usmforms.formstack.com/forms/service
Service-Learning
Service-learning is a form of education that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities (Learn and Serve America National Service-Learning Clearinghouse). Service-learning is similar to other forms of education, such as internships, in that it is hands-on, student-centered, and directly applicable to the curriculum. However, service learning is distinguished by its reciprocal and balanced emphasis on both student learning and the needs of the community.

Non-Profit Studies
The Non-Profit Studies minor is an interdisciplinary program that teaches skills necessary to work in the nonprofit sector, which includes charities, government agencies and non-governmental organizations that provide important support services, perform educational outreach, or advocate for various charitable or social causes. The Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Studies is appropriate for current Southern Miss graduate students who wish to pursue career in the nonprofit sector as well as individuals with a baccalaureate degree who are currently employed in or wish to transition to the nonprofit sector and need additional or specialized training.
Internships
If your organization has difficulty finding volunteers or could use a few extra hands, redefining volunteer opportunities by establishing an intern program can serve as a practical solution. For additional information on recruiting policies and how to post available internships, visit Handshake or CCE's Nonprofit Internships page.
