As a partner in the Mississippi Alliance, USM’s School of Computing Sciences and Computer
Engineering hosts strategic activities and initiatives to improve the recruitment,
retention, and graduation rates of students traditionally underrepresented in STEM
majors and careers. LSMAMP aligns with the goals of the NSF INCLUDES Mississippi Alliance
for Women in Computing (NSF 1649312) to increase the numbers of women of color on
computing pathways in the state.

Recipients are selected for a student worker position to participate in a research experience for undergraduate students, led by a research faculty member in the School.
LSMAMP provides mentors who provide academic support and guidance for undergraduates who are members of an under-represented minority group. Students who are juniors and seniors can apply to be a mentor. The pay for the position is $10/hour for up to 20 hours each week during the academic year.
