Community Partnership Award

We have the distinct pleasure of working with many organizations and leaders that enhance the student experience and learning.  We know that the support and collaboration with community partners is essential to achieving excellence for our department and our students.  This award goes to a partner that (1) Demonstrates exemplary commitment to the Department of Human Capital Development through-- in this case, student projects, class projects, and engaging with students through class presentations, (2) Provides essential opportunities for learning and development for our students over the past year, and (3) Works together with the DHCD as equal partners to build a cohesive community that serves as a model for collaborating with organizations and others for the advancement of the HCD discipline.

Dr. David Powe Learning Leader Award

This award was established in honor of Dr. David Powe because we have had the distinct privilege and honor to learn from, be mentored and coached by him.  His dynamic learning leadership spans state, regional, and national teams and initiatives, and he always is willing, ready and able to share his lessons learned.  He has spent a lifetime of leadership in integrating education and research. The criteria for the Dr. David Powe Learning Leader Award is that the student personifies exemplary character, identifies challenges as “opportunities,” exemplifies high integrity in academic activity, demonstrates leadership qualities, and helps others to achieve learning and personal accomplishments.

Drs. Jack and Patti Phillips Human Capital Analytics Award

With a combined 50 years’ experience in measuring and evaluating training, human resources, technology and quality programs and initiatives, Drs. Jack J. Phillips and Patti P. Phillips are the leading experts in return on investment (ROI).  Their expertise is shared through the ROI Institute and The University of Southern Mississippi to assist students and professionals in improving their programs and processes through the use of the ROI Methodology.  They have published more than 100 books, translated I more than 20 languages, and work with partners in more than 40 countries. The criteria for the Dr. Jack and Patti Phillips Human Capital Analytics Award is that a current HCD student demonstrates expertise in the ROI Methodology, Shows promise in the area of human capital analytics, Consistently applies critical thinking to projects and problem solving, and Uses analytics to drive organizational improvement.

Human Capital Development Outstanding Research Award

Criteria for the Human Capital Development Outstanding Research Award is that the student (1) Provides a scholarly contribution to the HCD community through their research and (2) Exemplifies the highest integrity in all research activities and demonstrates sound research practices.
